The Canadian men's national team will have a shot at their first trophy since the 2000 Gold Cup after defeating Panama 2-0 in the Concacaf Nations League semi-finals. Here's our analysis + highlights.

The Canadian men's national team will have a shot at their first trophy since the 2000 Gold Cup after defeating Panama 2-0 in the Concacaf Nations League semi-finals.

It was Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies on the scoresheet, beginning in the first half as an inch-perfect line-breaking pass from Kamal Miller rolled smoothly in front of the Canadian striker in the 25th minute. The Ice Man tucked home the follow-up shot through the Panama goalkeeper's legs to notch his 25th goal for country and open the scoring.

Les Rouges held that 1-0 lead into the second half, before substitute Alphonso Davies scored with a rocket hit in the 69th minute to double their advantage.

A 104th cap for Atiba Hutchinson with his retirement looming ahead was marked by applause by the travelling Voyageurs supporters, and while a late red card from VAR put Panama out of the contest, it would matter little in the end as Canada cruised to victory.
