For the second consecutive year, Forge FC’s Bobby Smyrniotis has been named the Canadian Premier League’s Coach of the Year.

Smyrniotis led Forge to the 2025 CPL Shield as regular season winners.

Forge put up 58 points this past year, the second most in CPL history. They also scored a club record 51 goals, went the entire regular season unbeaten at home and began the season with a CPL record 20-match unbeaten run.

The other nominees for this year’s award were Atlético Ottawa’s Diego Mejía and York United’s Mauro Eustáquio.

Smyrniotis has been nominated for the award in each of the league’s seven seasons, winning it for the first time last year. He joined Cavalry FC’s Tommy Wheeldon Jr. (2019, 2023) as the league’s only two-time recipients of the award.

Other CPL Coach of the Year winners include Halifax’s Stephen Hart (2020), Pacific’s Pa-Madou Kah (2021) and Atlético Ottawa’s Carlos González (2022).

Smyrniotis was awarded with the Owl, a soapstone sculpture conceptualized by artist Palaya Qiatsuq and carved by Ruben Komangapik at the CPL Awards show on Friday in Ottawa.
